I just realised this page has been getting quite a bit of traffic ... so I guess I'd better get organised and get the Photographers Place website back up and running soon!
For the new visitors, Photograophers place was a vibrant little online community a couple of years back, but unfortunately the portal software we were using seemed to attract more than it's fair share of idiot hackers. We were spending a lot of time we didn't have to spare, fixing up their mess and trying to block each new problem. I tried a few different applications to run it, but the hackers would eventually find another way around it, then run off to tell their mates so they could feel clever too!
In the end it got all too hard and I pulled the website and put it on hold until I could get a new portal set up.I've spend a fair bit of time now looking at the software options and we're gonig to give this one last try.
This time I'm using the Joomla platform and I've got to say it's looking very promising. I am flat out with Ozimages so I still won't have a lot of time to spend on this, but the Joomla platform makes it a lot easier to collaborate on projects and I've got a number of people keen to take on specific areas, get them set up and then monitor and develop them further once we go live again.
That's always been the idea ... to make this a community where everyone can contribute not jsut to the content but also to the direction.
Anyway, for now, please bookmark the website. You can Follow Me On Twitter to be alerted as soon as we're ready to go, though if you've been a member before we will still have your details so we'lll send you a one-off message when we're ready to go again.
After that, please explore some of our other photography related websites:-
